The All-New Lexus RX 350 Luxury

When Lexus first set upon an idea of a vehicle that could combine the on-road performance of a luxury saloon with the functionality of a sports utility vehicle (SUV), the Lexus RX was born. The vehicle not only transformed the automotive segment when it arrived on the scene in 1998 but it also elevated the SUV to premium status.

Offering go anywhere flexibility, everyday practicality and off-road handling along with the performance, refinement and comfort of a premium sedan, the Lexus RX broke new ground in the segment. From the moment it arrived, it quickly established itself as the best-selling model within the Lexus line-up.

The new Lexus RX not only continues the heritage that has made it a household name within the SUV space but it also breaks new ground in design and technology, thus increasing the model’s capabilities and appeal for modern drivers. Lexus Malaysia is offering the fully imported RX 350 Luxury equipped with a 2.4-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine.

Built on an enhanced GA-K platform, the new Lexus RX sits wider (+25mm) and boasts a longer wheelbase (+60mm), giving it a more dynamic expression while offering more generous interior space.

Expression of the future
Stunning from every angle, the all-new RX 350 takes a bold and decisive step forward in design. Marking a new chapter for Lexus’ design language, the model boasts a new spindle body design that expresses its new identity. More than that, it not only defines the model’s new seductive curves and balanced proportions but it also delivers essential functionality and dynamic performance to enhance the driving experience.

A new seamless grille at the front is an evolution of design for the RX, allowing it to further define the model’s strong, sleek and sporty expression. The hood front edge has been raised, and the window rear edge lowered, providing a horizontal and low-slung posture, alluding to the model’s alluring and seductively attractive exterior.

This powerful image is further elevated with the colour choices available for the new RX. Based on the 'Alluring x Verve' design concept, the colour design created for the RX is focused on accentuating the form of the vehicle with an exquisite quality feel further solidifying the model’s captivating image.

Intended to inspire the senses, metallic colours using Lexus-original sonic technology was used to beautifully accentuate the form of the vehicle through strong shading. This treatment not only creates a powerful expression for the SUV but also allows it to transform under strong sunlight, further emphasizing the vehicle’s alluring image.

Intuitive, Luxurious Interior
Stepping inside, the same alluring expression stretches well into the interior with a meticulously designed cabin, which is based on the human-centred Tazuna concept. Designed to create a true driver-focused cockpit, the forward thinking interior affords a deeper and more intuitive connection between the vehicle and driver for an exhilarating driving experience.

Space and comfort is also enhanced within the passenger space, which has been crafted to the highest standards of luxury. To further create a synergic relationship between human and machine, Lexus merged the Omotenashi influenced design with cutting-edge technologies. Close attention was paid to the size, shape, layout, and information of switches within the cabin space to create this cohesiveness.

Lexus designers not only focused on the optimum placement and shape for seamless operation but also the frequency of use of each function into consideration. The steering wheel switches, for example, are highly integrated with the head-up display to create a space where the driver can concentrate on driving.

Navigation, audio, and various functions can be controlled without the need for extra eye movement or complicated switch operations. The 14-inch centre display can be customised with many functions integrated into its soft switches. The end result to all of this is a modern, articulate and immersive environment that further complements the new RX’s dynamic and intuitive driving experience.

Refined Performance & Advanced Safety
On the road, the all-new RX offers poise and assured confidence, thanks to an electronically controlled full-time AWD system. By optimising both the front and rear drive torque distribution, the SUV seamlessly adapts to the different surfaces and conditions it has to contend with. In tandem with this, the RX 350 Luxury’s Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) helps controls the damping force of the shock absorbers on all four wheels to ensure excellent ride comfort.

Active Noise Control (ANC) also helps reduce noise within the cabin space, ensuring quiet and refined comfort for all occupants. Drivers will find the new RX 350 Luxury a joy to drive. The powerful and highly-efficient 2.4-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine paired with a Direct Shift-8AT 8-speed automatic transmission with shift-by-wire technology affords buttery smooth gear shifts with the added benefit of powerful start-off acceleration and comfortable high-speed cruising.

Lexus has consistently written the rule book for safety and with the new RX, it starts a new chapter. Driven by its goal to limit fatalities and injuries from traffic accidents, the new generation RX features an improved version of the Lexus Safety System+ (LSS+). It also features a digital Panoramic View Monitor with live 360° view of the vehicle and Rear Traffic Cross Alert, to aid drivers navigate tight confined spaces such as parking bays.

Additionally, the all-new RX is also equipped with an E-latch system for both inside and outside door handles. The electrically controlled system not only provides smooth door operation but also aids in mitigating accidents or collisions when occupants exit the vehicle.

When entering the vehicle, the door can be unlatched by gripping the door handle and pressing the switch on the back of the handle. Inside, the door can be unlatched by placing the hand on the door armrest pull handle and pressing the door opener switch with the thumb.

Paired with the Blind Spot Monitor with Safe Exit Assist (SEA), the RX is able to warn the driver of impending vehicles or cyclists approaching from behind the vehicle. Should the object appear close enough for an imminent ‘dooring’ impact, the E-latch will disable, preventing the door from being opened thus reducing an accident risk.
